So I've been here 5 weeks so far and I love living in the Uptown area. My husband is still looking for a job, but once he gets here we were planning to start looking to buy in the late summer/fall.

I've already been looking at townhomes in the Uptown area, and needless to say very few of them are within our budget. I've driven around and looked at some of the neighborhoods with some townhomes within our range, but the areas aren't very desirable. I looked at some around Ross ave, the townhomes themselves were great but they are right next door to a really trashy looking house with a toilet in the front yard lol.

I'm looking for an Uptown vibe, maybe a few restaurants within walking distance. Are there any other areas that are semi-urban that are similar to the Uptown lifestyle? The closer to the city the better, but we need to stay in our budget.

Anyway input ya'll have would be great!
Thanks!!

There are some nice townhomes in LaVillita of las Colinas in this price range. Dart will be in LC by the end of the year and there is quite a lot of growth & new shops in the area.

There are a lot of townhomes in the Lowest Greenville Ave area. I would stay north of Ross. There is crime there that is mostly related to the bars but is something you should be aware of. It is also close to alot of the shops on Henderson Ave.

You should have no problem finding an under $275k townhome/condo in Uptown (real Uptown, not east of 75 on Ross where you were looking)- be sure to look north all the way to Knox-Henderson. Oak Lawn is another good possibility- just stay north of Cedar Springs.

Check zips 75204, 75206, 75219, and 75205.

We currently live near the Valencia Uptown. 2 bedrooms can be had at your price point easily. 3 bedrooms, are a bit trickier to find. However looking closer to Fitzhugh and Mckinney you may have a bit more luck. You're not really walkable to West Village at that point but parking is usually easier.

FWIW, we paid a premium to be across the street from West Village and it has been a huge convenience. Can jog easily. Put the kid in the stroller and roll there in about 90 seconds.

$275k for a 2/2 in Uptown should not be an issue. Also check out the Gilbert/Holland/Bowser (75219) area of Oak Lawn which offer similar amenities/vibe to Uptown. There are also quite a few units in that range in the Knox Park area (75205) on McKinney, Travis and Buena Vista which is very walkable to all conveniences and the Katy Trail. I have a place in this area and walk quite a bit and there are also many FSBO's that you will not find in MLS. I suggest you find a nice day, park the car and just check the neighborhood out on foot!

In this market, if a 2/2 fits your needs, there is really no reason to be looking east of 75 if you really want Uptown.
