In a different climate but I have had it on an addition for 4 yrs. Paint still looks good, boards have not cracked in severe cold, and I like that is is fireproof.

If you are referring to the product like Hardi-plank..... it is a great product and stands the test of time and even some pretty bad hail storms. Most of your higher end builders use it on the non masonry portions of their houses instead of lower cost siding. In most of these communities vinyl siding is not allowed. Hardi-plank is a good reliable product.

We recently had our soffit/facia/frieze boards replaced with hardi products. It really is a great product. I had a home in Allen that was built ~ 2002. In 2006, when I sold it, the original paint still looked brand new. From what I've seen, if you prime and paint the product immediately, it's pretty much a no maintenance product - except you'll need to repaint it every 20 years or so (provided you put a quality paint on it to begin with).

I used to work in a lumber yard and Hardi was all we sold for siding, we tried selling vinyl siding and other alternatives but our local contractors would not touch the stuff, they like Hardi and that's all they use.
