Your post is confusing. What grade? Private or public? Public would be whatever School is zoned to your Addison address.

well, he is ten, so 4th grade....public or private...he is in a private school now....BUT, just because he is zoned for one DISD school, that doesn't mean that he HAS to go to that school....I can pay a fee to transfer him to another DISD school if I dont like the one he is zoned to go to....Im willing to pay $$ and drive farther if it means putting him in a better school....I just dont know of any private schools that will take a new enrollment this late in the year....

What DISD elementary is he zoned to? Addison ultimately feeds into White, which is a very good high school. Most of the elementary schools in the White feeder are strong.

It will be nearly impossible to get him into a private school with 6 weeks to go- or or next year, for that matter.

and frankly with the teacher layoffs and budget cuts and the shuffling that will ensue after the dust settles--there is no telling what will be the best school
some of the best teachers may be sent home or sent to other schools to balance loads
most schools will have loaded classes--over the normal sizes--
so calling now what the "best" schools will be is going to be just luck IMO
situations like this can reduce the effectiveness of a school pretty quickly...
