I keep hearing how Collin County has much higher property tax rates than other counties. Can someone tell me the rates of CoCo? Is it really much higher than say, Denton County? Thanks so much for your help!!

There are about 4-5 taxing entities that determine your taxes. County taxes are about the lowest with your school taxes being the highest.

To determine the tax rate we need to know your county, city, school district and if you are in any special kind of tax district. You have to add all the above together to get your total tax percentage.

Thanks Rakin for your reply. We are looking at Flower Mound in Denton County, in the Lewisville school district and Stonebridge Ranch in McKinney, (coco county)..

Is their a website you can refer me to? Thanks so much!

Denton's is dentoncad.org, I think. If not, google Denton TX CAD.

Denton is typically lower. You always pay more for the conveniences (fwiw) of being in/closer to town.

Republic Title I believe has all the tax rates. Go to their resource guide.

Republic Title

Flower Mound and Mc Kinney should have about the same tax rate. It should be around 2.5% + or -.

There should not be that much difference to make a difference in your selection. Where will you be working ? Those 2 cities are a good distance apart.

Flower Mound is 2.15%. This is a good website on property taxes in DFW area:

That is a good website, but not entirely accurate. I would caution the OP to make sure on the ISDs. Since they don't go with city boundaries that sheet is giving the predominant district in each city but may be leaving out the ones along the edges of the city.

Or like in the case of Murphy shows a school district rate of 1.35 which is Plano ISD. However a third of the city is in Wylie ISD and that is a 1.64 rate. And arguably much different types of districts.
