Hmm, not sure. Plenty of representation from the gay/lesbian community. Not nakedness though. It's pretty early in the day for the drunken crazy half naked people though. Guess it's going to depend on how sheltered your kids are.

The parade isn't too bad. It doesn't have anything overtly raunchy in it because it is in the morning and people haven't had the time to get drunk yet. I'd suggest Upper Greenville if you go with kids.

People will be drinking. And there will be some risque businesses with floats. You may have to explain what a "gentlemens" club is to your child. But the women won't be in their, um, "gentlemens" attire.

Where can I park? Parking for this race can be a problem. We encourage runners to arrive early the Old Towne Shopping Center parking lot fills up very fast. The DART is also a great alternative with a stop just blocks away.

So my first experience with the parade down Greenville was about 13 or 14 years ago. We had a sweet spot just off Yale Blvd with my 4 yr old...Hey!...it's a parade!!!
It started out with a cross-dressing dude holding up a giant inflatable male "member" while standing up in a convertible. Then other typical shenanigans. Then the suprise to see how nicely the strip bars were represented in the parade with ladies with barely a bathing suit/other various under-coverings on. It was quite the scene.
I haven't been in years. My husband took the kids last year. Apparently it's much tamer from my first experience.

We're about 2 blocks off Greenville towards 75. Maybe my hubby will drop me off if I'm lucky

I think I would park along Matilda, Birchbrook, Milton, etc..you will be there early enough for the run that there should be some free spaces -- just be sure to go up Skillman and avoid Greenville and Central service roads. When you leave go back down Skillman.

Or you could have someone drop you off at Lover's and Greenville then you could walk back home after the race, stopping at the center of the after-parade action around Greenville and Goodwin.

Also there will be a lot of taxis at that party position to take people home from there...

Look for a big U-Haul backed up to Greenville by Lights Fantastic and you will find our party!
I'll have to look and see if I can meet the famous Lakewooder!
