Hey... momof2dfw... you seem to really know your stuff. We are looking at a house in Rockwall. We are moving from Washington state and have done some research about good and bad areas. The house we are looking at is only 3 years old and on almost 2 acres in a small area of similar houses on a road called Fireside Dr. It is West of 205... just North of FM 550. What do you think of that area? We are a little concerned that there is not much around it and wonder what may be built in the future.
Thanks for any advice you can offer.

In terms of access to schools, retail, chain restaurants, Costco, etc., it's fine by local standards. You'd only be 10 minutes or so from all that, and from the interstate.

My only concern about that area is that the terrain is so boring and depressing. It's flat, black-dirt, wind-blown prairie land dotted with scrubby mesquite trees.

It's actually in McClendon-Chisholm, not Rockwall, but that shouldn't be a deal breaker. Culturally, it's all one area, and you'd still be in Rockwall county.

I've lived in Rockwall county for 30+ years, the first 12 of which were a stone's throw from the neighborhood you're looking at. In those days, it was quiet and rural. We moved to town, south of I30,west and north of FM740, very near the lake. It's divine here - wooded lots, curving roads, and gentle hills - but long ago built out, so no new construction.
New construction and nice wooded terrain don't play well together in these parts. Also, you'd have a hard time finding large "ranchette" style lots like those in McClendon-Chisholm, if that's what you want.
