Quick question..

Does anyone have any good info. on the areas around Preston Rd. and Arapaho in far North Dallas? I know they tore down the old Prestonwood mall and put in a Wal-mart there. I used to work in that area around 10 yrs. ago and it was still ok then. Was wanting to know if there are any decent apts. around there or nice homes under 160K.
Thanks

Besides the Super Walmart, they moved the Preston/Belt Line Barnes and Noble to that new strip mall. There is also a Circuit City, a couple of big shoestores (DSW is one), a linen store and a couple of others and several small shops. They are opening a Houlihan's (restaurant) soon. It's all very nice.

I don't know if you can get into a home for under $160 along Arapaho in on the Dallas side (west of Coit). You can get close. Some of the houses in Holiday Park and Estates West are under $200, but I don't know if they get down to $160. Schools are exemplary in that area. If you keep going east on Arapaho into Richardson, you might find more housing choices.

There are some apartments behind that old Toys R Us that was across from the mall (north of it). I think the street is Bent Tree something. They are older apartments but still nice. They overlook the golf course. There are some newer complexes, too, in that area that are more expensive.

I am located on Bent Tree Forest Dr and Knoll Trail in between Arapaho and Keller Springs. This immediate area is mainly Condo's more so than Apartments. The Housing starts more on the end where Preston joins Keller Springs, or north on Arapaho past Preston going toward Hillcrest etc. or down Midway off Belt Line then up towards Frankfurt more towards Plano.

Is it possible to actually get a home in Dallas, anywhere...for UNDER 100K....LOL Heck, a few of the condo's in my complex are going for 120+ ...and that is for something around 750sf.....riduculous!

Hey FarNorth and Irishwop,

Thanks for y'alls responses!
Is that area divided between Richardson and Plano schools? I was looking on a Mapsco and couldn't find any Dallas middle/high schools in the area.. I've always enjoyed that area of town and even though I live out of state now, being over there brings back great memories when Prestonwood mall was still around.

Here is the map for the attendance boundary for the Dallas ISD elementary school in that area, that feeds into Walker middle school and White high school. To the east would be Richardson ISD and to the north, at the Collin County line, would become Plano ISD.
