Hi all!
We will be relocating to the DFW area sometime this summer. DH will be working from home, but will need decent access to both airports.

Our main priority is to find a good school district (our current district here in the midwest compares to highland park in terms of scores, ap exams, grad rates, etc, but we can't afford HP!). My son is in the gifted program here--can anyone tell me which districts have a good GT program?

Housewise, I don't want to go above 350K, and would prefer to stay in the 275-325k range, with no more than about 3200ish s.f. I have family in Allen, so it would be nice to be somewhat close to them, but like I said, the school district is tops, priority-wise.

Thanks so much for the help! We are very excited to be transplanted Texans.

Coppell and Plano would be your next best bets for top quality districts. At Coppell, you would be on the lower end of home prices and may not be as big/nice/ new as you want. But that district is closest to HPISD in terms of being a small, 1-high school district that excels at similar athletics and other extracurriculars. SAT scores are top 5 in North Texas. Coppell is a 5-10 minute drive to DFW and 15 to Love Field.

Plano is a mega-district (3 senior high schools for grades 11&12 with about 1100-1400 in each school's graduating class). Opportunities are limitless due to the districts size, but if it's not a good fit for your kid's, it's very easy to get lost. Many mor homes in your price range, and it borders Allen. 20-30 minutes to Love Field and about 5 minutes longer to DFW.
