According to an article in D Magazine last July, Little Elm is the 2nd most densely populated city in the Metroplex. Our home values our declining, our school district is reorganizing, and now, our idiotic city leaders approved a request to rezone 110 acres as Multi-Family, paving the way for a 1400, yes 1400 unit apartment complex.

The decision is sure to anger Frisco residents and leaders as well because the proposed development is zoned inside Frisco ISD.

I swear our town council could give the Dallas City Council a run for their money in a fight over which group is more inept.

Well let's see.

1) The proposed development abuts a creek and is in a floodplain
2) The traffic in the area is already horrendous and this complex is not located at a major intersection
3) 1400 units on 110 acres works out to 13 units per acre (plus parking)
4) 300-500 additional students crowded into the neighborhood schools
5) A very high probability that some or all of the units will eventually be converted to Section 8 housing because the development area is not desireable

I've always wondered why Texas allows school districts overlap more than one city...it seems that this type of action happens a lot, where one city will deliberately place all it's undesirable inhabitants in a neighboring city's school district, a little F U to the neigboring city. A buddy of mine from Frisco complains that McKinney did something similar, zoning a lot of low income apartments to the part of McKinney served by Frisco ISD
Although I can't totally blame Little Elm for sticking it to Frisco. I was on Frisco online...the contempt with which Friscoites appear to regard Little Elm was palpable. This snobbery is also directed at The Colony too...I suspect there were quite a few chuckles in some Little Elm living rooms.
That being said, I agree with bluescreen73, bringing in loads of low income apartments appears to be madness...

If they want to see some real Section 8 riff raff, I can take them on a tour of Spring Valley and Maham.
