Good Morning All. Why does the water have a musty/sandy smell to it? Not bashing because we have been to other places where the water had a funny smell. Just wondering the cause

There are about a billion threads about this but it's caused by algae secretions. It's totally harmless but it makes the water stink and taste like sorry ass. The easiest way to get most of the smell and taste out of the water is to buy a filtered water pitcher. Make sure one of the stages in the filter is a charcoal layer.

That's how I deal with it.

You must not live in Dallas - the water here is quite tasty. I have had a few old Dallasites visiting home the last couple of weeks from various parts of the country and several of them went on and on about how they missed the taste of the water. One friend went straight to the kitchen sink to get some before she even put down her bags.

Off and on I've heard complaints, but I have personally never noticed it.

No I am not from the area. I grew up in Florida so I "love" water that has an irony taste. Everyone has their own preferences. We live in Pa(leaving soon) and they have decent tasting water. A lot of the locals are missing teeth though which we always said was because of the water.

I will put up with the water. Give me Texas anyday over PA

I vist my son in the eastern side of Little Elm and have never noticed anything about the water. It tastes good to me.

I lived in Lewisville for my first 7 months here. The water up there tasted awful, like I went and licked the sides of an algae filled aquarium. It had a very "earthy" taste to it, like a pond or something...I could even smell the "earthy flavor" in the shower and sink water.

I live in downtown Dallas now, and the water isn't bad. No funny taste at all.
