This is in contrast to Park Cities Presbyterian (which is the other piece in the split TC80 references), where I also attended at one point; when I was there, there was quite a bit of emphasis on denomination. There is great music and preaching at the traditional service and great special music on occasion. A lot of the younger crowd likes the contemporary service that meets in gym.

I'm also a Presbyterian of the PCUSA, and I would say that Highland Park Presbyterian Church is CONSIDERABLY more conservative than much of the PCUSA. When my husband and I were seeking a new church home, we visited there, and we have friends there, but the pastor, and hence the church, is just too conservative for us.

Nearby Highland Park United Methodist might be a good choice. They are extremely active in various ministries of social justice. My husband and I attend their monthly Taize service (first Thursday of every month Sept through May). www.hpumc.org We have attended a few other services there, but prefer to stick to our PCUSA affiliation for reasons related to church polity, not doctrine or theology.

Thanks also to those who have helped identify a Methodist leaning. I've never been able to pinpoint specific denominations and so have generally ended up at a non-denom church.
