Hello, I am new to the forum. I am wondering if anyone maybe able to help me. I am relocating as above. I am looking for a good school for my two children, ages 16 and 12, 10th and 6th grade. I am currently in the medical field and will be attending college to continue my degree in Nursing. I do not have the best of credit but currently have good rental history and money for a deposit is not an issue, plan to pay a few months rent in advance until we are stable. My children and I are so excited. I have been reading different posts and it seems that the Dallas area will be a good start. Where I am currently living, I have been here all my life and the jos here are average. I am currently going through a divorce and find that Dallas mybe a new start/change for us. I have been researching several areas, Allen, Richardson, Arlington, and Garland. The problem that I am finding is that, it is hard to relocate to an apartment without employment. I plan to pay at least 3-4 months in advance and with my current job here and job experience, I am sure I will find something. I am an assistant manager at a clinic and a PCA at St. Jude research Hospital. All I need is a chance and do not want to start off in a bad low income environment. If you can help with any suggestions, please, please let me know.
Thank You in Advance....

There are wonderful housing options all over the DFW area but traffic here is a total nightmare. Your kids will be moving here and leaving dad behind? That means they will need mom around as much as possible. Don't complicate things by settling in a place before you have a job that puts you in a 2 hour commute. FIND YOUR JOB FIRST!!! Since summer is here soon, good idea to find temp housing locally while you look for work. You may be able to find a short sublet on craigslist.com and if you pay in advance that might work for you. As a landlord, your rental history and A JOB is what gets my attention... your past credit history is less important. I would not rent to you without A JOB.

FIRST, figure out where you will be attending to finish up school. Two very good nursing schools are in this area. UTA and TWU. They are MILES and MILES apart. Depending on where you are in your program with TWU you could be at the Dallas campus and not the main campus in Denton. UTA is in Arlington. Start here first and figure out which program and which campus you will be at. THEN you can look for housing. Dallas is a BIG area.

Good luck to you, our situation is somewhat similar. If I hear of anything I will certainly let you know. Have you been down there yet to visit and check it out. I am going down after the kids are out of school. Lots to consider and plan. I am concerned about the job situation, but knowing that it will be temporary because of school, I know it will be alright. Sometimes you just have to jump out there and do what you can.

Thank You for the posting, texasbound28 . I hope all is welll with you and your family. I have not been to the Dallas area as of yet. My children and I will be visiting in July for a week. I am also concerned about the employment situation, along with others such as housing, good schools, and the traffic I keep reading about. Have you decided on an area? I am just gonna have to step out on that old thing called Faith Thank you again, hopefully we can stay in touch.
