Plano has swim clubs as far as I know. Wylie does not. You can live in parts of Murphy that attend the Plano ISD or parts of Murphy go to Wylie ISD.

On Friday nights in Wylie, everyone is at the football game. They build a nice stadium a few years back.

If you are not crazy about living in a large suburb, why are you looking at them?

Well, having kids I would want them to have other kids around, plus the swimming is a big thing with us. I had thought that Wylie was a smaller suburb than some of the other ones, plus if I live out in the country, I really won't know what to do with all of the land!! If you have any suggestions, please let me know- This site has been most helpful!

Have you considered Allen? I know a couple of kids who swam competitively and they went to Allen High School.

My husband works out there and he thinks it's full of rednecks. Obviously, that doesn't mean everyone out there is a redneck, but he thinks it is a majority in Wylie.

Yep... and some of my relatives in NY think everyone in TX is a redneck... doesn't say too much though

There are older areas where there are more natives that lived in Wylie when it was a lot quieter, and there are plenty of new neighborhoods with people who just moved in and wanted to live somewhere a bit quieter.

Personally I'd look at the western edge of Wylie, north western tip of Sachse, or Murphy... right around Murphy Rd. You'll be far enough out to enjoy the peace and quiet, but close enough to all of the action.

Be careful of the lakewood folks, they tend to think everyone outside of LBJ is a redneck

No, we tend to think there is nothing north of Mockingbird! And BTW, Allen is even larger than Wylie!
