I'll be working at UT Southwestern.

Looking for a nice, clean, new, upscale, quiet area in which to live.
Would like to live near nice parks and a golf course if possible.

I was recommended Las Colinas, but to me it just doesn't look homey at all...very busy/cold/downtown office-building feel.

P.S. A higher priced area is definitely ok!

Uptown? No golf course in the neighborhood, but plenty within a 10 minute drive- both Dallas public courses and private clubs.

Almost all the residential buildings in Uptown are 10 years old or less. Check out the Ashton, Monterrey, Triannon, Gables Villa Rosa, the high-rises along Turtle Creek (older buildings, but easy to find a totally updated unit to rent on Craig's List or through a realtor). Walkable neighborhood about 5-7 minute drive from UTSW. Plenty of ships, restaurants, nightlife, parks, entertainment, The Katy Trail, etc.

I don't know why you wouldn't have looked there in the first place. I hate Las Colinas for the very reason you said- it's a glorified office park with no personality.

Second recommendation not knowing your age or family situation- the Park Cities/ Greenway Parks/ Devonshire area is BEAUTIFUL- more quiet, serene, less nightlife than Uptown, more family centered but still some high income singles there, too. Tons of parks- one every few blocks or so! Again, no country clubs but not too far from private & public ones. 10 minutes to UTSW via Inwood.

Mostly single family homes & duplexes for rent- very few apartments but there is one in Greenway Parks (Lovers Lane & Tollroad) called the Pavillion @ Greenway or something like that. Think it's about $1300 for a 1 br. Nice complex and not a "party place" at all. Walking distance to many shops, restaurants, Eatzi's for gourmet take-out, the Inwood movie theatre (mostly indies), etc.
