Default Yes, I'd Say It Is

The State Fair of Texas is, without question, the best in the country. It's also the most expensive, but still a good buy for any family or group.

Besides, where else do you get every imaginable thing batter-dipped and deep-fried..........including your car-keys if you're not careful?

Me, too! This is the first year since I was in diapers, that I haven't been. I actually almost flew home for a few days, just to go to the fair!

I've been to Iowa's, which is considered one of the best, and I didn't think it was close to our State Fair.

Last night I could not believe it.......... I flipped over to Ch. 5 to check Jay Leno's monologue and Ross the Intern came on and started talking about his visit to a football game. He was HERE in Dallas at THE STATE FAIR OF TEXAS for the UT/ou game. OMYGOSH! We were ON THE TONIGHT SHOW! Well, "we" meaning us in Dallas. You might be able to find a clip of his video on their websites:

Tonight Show with Jay Leno on NBC: Late Night TV Headlines and Videos – NBC Official Site

He was even showing all of the deep fried stuff and said, "here is where Texas meets California" and panned to a sign that said, "Deep Fried Latte". LOL!!!

I went to the Texas State Fair in 2003 and it was an incredible experience. The big turkey legs were great and watching the OU/UT game on the big screens was tons of fun.

It is definitely worth checking out and I'm trying to get back there to go again.

I know quite a few people who actually do that! I've never missed a Fair, either.

Khfar, I sometimes go to Big Tex and leave "Howdy Folks" message for Lakewooders living around the world. Now I have a video feature on the phone so we will see how that works.

We've been 3 times to the fair this year. One was for the TX/OU game, then on "Fair Day" (for the kids to see the Jonas Brothers - talk about a crowd...) and then during the day last week, which was very pleasant. We had a good time but the prices (as always) were outrageous. It's awful with the kids because they want to ride everything and play the Midway games - all rip-offs and ridiculously overpriced. I guess some things never change, however. We thought it might be fun to ride the new skyride over the top of the fairgrounds (new this year) but it cost 12 coupons (equivalent of $6.00), which we thought was absurd. It wasn't worth it to us and, honestly, most of the cars looked empty most of the day. Overall, Fair Park was clean and we had a good time touring the auto and other exhibition buildings. Regarding fried things - we tried fried guacamole (good), fried cookie dough (real good) and, of course, our annual Fletcher's Corny Dog (always good). Actually, we had our annual corny dog three times this year - lol! Please don't tell our physicians!

We didn't go Sunday like we wanted to! I am craving Fletcher's corny dog! Maybe we can go one afternoon this week, take a half day from work. That's iffy, though. I hate not being able to go!

I know - I am going with my nephew and his family next weekend and it is killing me that I have to wait until the last weekend. I usually go 3 times. I've had several funerals (friends' parents, community leaders) Woodrow Homecoming, an SMU game and a 50th birthday bash which have kept me away so far.

I figure I'll eat 3 corny dogs.. And kt2le where did you find the fried guacamole?
