I'm looking for any recommendations on furniture stores in the metro area. Is there anything equivalent to a Nebraska Furniture Mart in Kansas City? Looking for stores with big selections on sofas.

I've been to IKEA numerous times up in the twin cities and am not looking for that type of style.

Freed's- midway & 635. Lots of "traditional" style furniture if you meant you didn't like Ikea's style (modern)

Weir's- several locations in Plano and Dallas

Haverty's
Rooms to Go has plenty of sofas but quality is not that great
Weirs has more leather sofas than they used to but you can order about anything
Ethan Allen--good quality/more traditional/expensive
some smaller local furniture stores like Anderson's off 1709 in Southlake or Stacy's in Grapevine

Any opinions on or experience at this Plano-based store?

DFW Furniture Direct - Modern Contemporary Furniture Texas | Dallas Furniture Store | Children Bedroom Furniture Texas DFW Metro | Contemporary Furniture Dallas

They encourage you to buy online & have a tiny, shabby storefront.

Try the high end furniture consignment stores. Two I like are, The Consignment store located on Beltline in north Dallas just east of the N. Dallas Tollroad. The second is in Plano, called the Consigneree located in the same shopping area on Preston as Weir's. Both of these stores carry very high end furniture whick is lightly used and at a good price for the quality. Contemporary is more often found at the Plano store. But both are working checking out to see if you can find something that fits your need and quality expectations.

You didn't mention what type of Sofa, but I was pleasantly surprised to find this sofa company that makes furniture here in North Texas (Shock ALERT - something actually made in the USA that isn't a John Deere tracker, Boeing airplane, or uber expensive NC dining sets). Yes, we paid a bit more, but we got exactly what we wanted.

Oh, I've been looking at that place online, wanting to get a new sofa soon. You really like it?
