Hi. I have a child who is small for his age. I'd like him to see an endocrinologist, one that would be open to growth hormone treatments if necessary. I don't know if doctors are generally opposed to that, but I just don't want to hear from a doctor that it's OK for someone to be really small.

I met a woman once who had a fifteen-year old boy who wasn't even 5 feet tall because every time she took him to a doctor, each would say that he was small but healthy and never took her concerns seriously. She finally found a doctor who took her concerns seriously but the boy was already thirteen years old by then and the doctor told her that yes, he had some medical condition that limited his growth and it will respond well to growth hormones but that the results would not be as good as if he had begun the treatments much, much earlier.

So anyway, I'd appreciate any referrals in the Dallas area, especially in the northern part. Thanks.

Your should first start with Medical City Children's near Forest and I75, since that is in the northeastern part of town. But your best bet is to go to Children's Medical Center, they have more Pediatric Endocrinologists and you'll probably have a better chance finding someone who'll help you there.

i agree with going to Children's. This reminds me of Lionel Messi who got growth hormones at a young age and is now 5'6ish and the best soccer player in the world
