It's never been this hard to find a job here in Dallas. Where have all the decent jobs gone?

Sending resumes online is a dead-end, temp agencies have become a another dead-end joke, they just send your resumes to the companies now instead of sending you out on assignment. Plus now every company wants you to be bilingual, LOL! Most jobs are Craigslist are a scam? Whatever happened to going in filing out an application or giving you resume to them direct face to face!!! What gives???

Seriously what's going on with Dallas?

Well, last I checked the unemployment rate in Dallas was hovering around 8%. 4% for college grads, even lower than that for those with Masters/ PhDs, and around 16% for those with no college degree. What bucket do you fall in?

If you have no college degree OR not a lot of job experience OR are trying to relocate to Dallas but not in a specialized field......it's not going to be easy to get a job here.

Everyone I know who has some current & valuable job skills and is personable has never had a problem finding a job in Dallas - even now. Checkout Monster.com - they have thousands of openings. As does HotJobs.com, and other job websites. Good luck

The jobs are out there. Try indeed.com; when my husband was looking for a job he applied for at least one job per day for about 4 months. It paid off because a recruiter found his resume on Monster.com and he was just offered a job this week...he's in the IT field. You have to be persistent and make sure your resume looks good as well.

Talk to Obama, he was supposed to have this all figured out by now..."Hopey change" thing did nothing for unemployment as far as I can see.

You need to keep looking and persevere.

There are jobs out there but they're harder to get and it definitely takes longer to find one than it used to (on average).

likely more rabble-rousing than factual

Definitely network. I relocated to Dallas nearly a year ago based off a job lead from a friend. I ended up being offered a different position from what I originally interviewed for. It was a step down in responsibility and title, but I was able to negotiate other benefits. I think the key is to remain flexible. I also have a BS and MBA (which the job doesn't require). I've been working in the same industry for several years so I think that helped also.
