Hello All,

My husband and I are looking to purchase a new construction home in the Village of Willow Bay and my husband fell in love with the Landon model and I like it as well but a friend of mine who owns a First Texas home recommended them. In your opinion, who is a better builder? I know that Landon charges about 20-30k more than First Texas but they appear to have a better energy efficiency package which is extremely important to us. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I personally think Landon builds a better home. First Texas gives you an incredible value, but I don't think the quality is quite as good. I have a friend that works there now, and one that has worked there before.

Make sure you know what you are getting in the house in details. That model home at VOWB is very very decked out, I think about 100K in upgrades if my memory serves me right. Have them show you a bare spec home.

I think that they are very comparable builders in terms of quality. The upside for FTH is that you get a lot of items included for free which are upgrades with Landon.

Thanks Mike. Thank you Naima, those are certainly some things to consider. Actually there was a spec home that they had ready and it seemed pretty average: Carpet, wood banisters with rod iron spindles, average appliances, tile in high traffic areas. But you are right, there was no brass fixtures and berber carpet or surround sound in the home. I am ok with the basics because I know it's cheaper for me to install myself than finance 30 years of upgrades which will eventually cost me more in the long run.
