We have the opportunity to join the Verandah Club. It is the gym/spa/pool that is connected to the Hilton Anatole hotel. Has anyone heard of it or have any opinions of it? Amenities include full gym, group exercise, pool (indoor & out), tennis, great locker room stuff (saunas, etc), squash courts and a track.

Thoughts?

Sounds pricey but if you would get good use out of it perhaps you could use on a trail basis to see? Aren't you in E. Dallas? Would there be something closer (Lifetime?)

Nothing closer that we can afford. Not prepared to do a social membership at Lakewood Country Club. Waiting list at the KC pool is too long. YMCA pool needs a lot of improvement. The only other thing I am aware of is the Federation of Eagle (or something like that) behind Forest Hills. It is okay, but not something we would do regularly.

Any other suggestions out there?
Verandah is about $120/month and includes a lot of gym stuff that we realistically would probably not use. Pool is nice with swim-up bar, but not sure how much we would really make the trek over from Lakewood.

The Verandah has a really nice pool - salt water, I believe, and gets some nice shade. We popped in there a few times on friends' memberships and always enjoyed it.

I don't think you'll enjoy the FOE pool behind Forest Hills. It's more of the Doublewide crowd....which is okay every now and then, but can get annoying.

The best thing you can do to get into KC is go to a school auction and bid on the KC pool membership - you don't have to wait on the list....you get right in. Lipscomb usually has one and that auction should be in early Nov. At Stonewall or Lakewood auctions etc - the KC pool membership goes for well over 1k. At Lipscomb auction, I've seen it go for $500.
