Can anyone give me any positives/negatives on buying an existing home in the North Dallas or West Plano area? Specifically the area where the George Bush and Dallas North Tollway meet, and immediately west of it?

There seem to be some nice homes in the Marsh/George Bush area, but how's the neigborhood, school, and crime?

North Dallas south of LBJ is rapidly appreciating - one report was prices up 29% - so that would be a great place to invest.

homes in midway corridor near georgebush and tollway are your best choice. homes with plano schools are a bit pricy but homes with lewisville schools are relatively less expansive. resale is better on pisd side on account of willowbend/west plano schools. check out preston woods, cypress creek, cypress point, oakbrook, hills of indian creek. all of them are great communities. mostly old money and new executive neighbours so its very upscale and nice place to call home.

It might just be me...BUT...I find a "guru" to encompass all knowledge, and with that knowledge, the understanding of resurrecting an almost 4 year old thread is the most un-guru thing to do...

LOL!!!! It is just a user name ... not a claim to absolute wisdom or 'Guru' status. Are you really spicy pepper#131?

I am currently in the market and I found that area very desireable. Thank you for sub-division list.

This is our 5th year here and we love it. We have nice neighbourhood, awesome schools and commute is just excellent. You do have to pay a premium to live here since homes are relatively expensive but it is totally worth it. I lived in Coppell and Allen before settling here so I learned pros and cons firsthand.
