SLC hasn't been relevant since Coach Dodd left after the 2006 season. On another note... Euless Trinity, DeSoto, Allen and Cedar Hill put out more D-1 college players than SLC hands down(it's not even close)

Well, we are relocating from Lakewood to Frisco, so if you are open to renting your home, let me know. Thanks! Oh, and not because we don't love the area, we are conservative, church going Republicans that enjoy echo chambers .
OR??? which is true?

We just relocated here from NC. Our boys are 8 and 12, never played football, but want to start in the fall. Any suggestions where to put them and which schools have the best football programs for these ages?

We will be living in Frisco, Lakewood, or Lake Highlands. Thanks in Advance!

The poll is flawed. Go to the 7-5A thread on that very site and the consensus among the regulars who've followed these teams for years is that SLC has the strongest team this Year, then Coppell, then Guyer.

I played for Trinity, I'm very familiar with their youth program. I grew up in the town. It's horrible compared to what SLC/Grapevine-Colleyville/Coppel's youth program. The only reason Trinity has made it to any playoffs is for the fact it has the largest population of Tongans outside Tonga. Some the the largest, strongest people on earth. L.D. Bell the other high school in the same district had a better record than Trinity for years...and it slowly became less competitive as the population of Tongans increased at Trinity. Anybody that lives there knows this.

SLC is in the running again for a shot at the title. ...That's a sign of a superior program. State Championships in the 80's, 90's, and 00's. And right up there among the best this Decade.

With 2500 students compared to Allen's 5000.

And what does players the number of players in NFL have to do with the effectiveness of a football program really? Natural God given athletic ability, is by far and away the major factor in success as a pro athlete.

I'll take your word on SLC's upcoming season and since you played for Trinity I'm sure you have a better feel for their program than I, but as for the last paragraph...I never mentioned pro athletes, I said D-1 College athletes.

College athletics is a multi billion dollar business where earning a scholarship means $$$ that the parent don't have to spend. When the time comes for me to look into a HS program, I would have to take consideration of schools where coaches take time to market their players out to colleges. You have too many of these 100k per year head coaches that don't spend anytime helping kids into college, many of them just like to use kids for their own merits and move on to the next crop of talent. It's more than just "Natural God given athletic ability" that earns a free ride.

5stones, we are in a corporate apartment until August 17th in which we originally planned to move to Frisco. After doing more research and looking at commute times, Allen seems like a better fit for now. Sorry for the confusion!

Are you familiar with any of the great, current coaches that take pride in promoting their players instead of themselves? How does one ascertain such information? Thx!

Brad McCoy as coach was pretty good at promoting football players...

Brad McCoy resigns as Graham coach » Abilene Reporter-News
Feb 10, 2010
Quote:
Graham High School football coach Brad McCoy resigned Wednesday morning, announcing that he has joined The Flippen Group — a Texas-based company that specializes in talent development and organizational strategies for athletic programs and corporations nationwide.
Quote:
“This new opportunity will allow me to travel across the nation and have a big influence on coaches,” he said. “I’ll be coaching coaches who can touch the lives of their own 135 kids, so this will allow me to have an impact on more lives than ever before.”

Based in College Station, the Flippen Group has outlets in 40 states and has worked with Fortune 500 companies, NASCAR teams, the Arizona Diamondbacks and the New York Yankees.

McCoy’s role within the company will be as a traveling consultant, largely working with high school and college coaches on how to develop young athletes mentally and physically.
http://www.flippengroup.com/sports/index.html

But then, most of us knew that. Mom, Brad McCoy is father of former Texas Qback Colt McCoy and soon-to-be Texas Qback Case McCoy. And BTW, Colt McCoy attended one of the smallest high schools in one of the smallest school districts in nowhere Texas prior to his four years starting Qback at Texas. Texas of course, being one of the LARGEST Div-1 college football programs in the nation.

So, it can be done.

My kind of thinking right there!
