My husband has been relocated and we will be moving to Denton. Can anyone tell me which schools are the best? Also which side of town should we focus our search on? Where I live now I frequent the YMCA and would love to join a rec center, are there ones that are better then others? Please Help!!

Denton Ryan or Denton Guyer will be your best bets for high school, I'm unsure about lower schools. I know on the southern and southwestern side of town a lot of new residential developments are going up. I think they cover a lot of price ranges as well. If you want to find very charming older homes (some even Victorian era) then the neighborhood between downtown and UNT (and slightly north of campus) has some fantastic homes.

Honestly almost anywhere in Denton is a great place to live. There is one little pocket just south of 35 (towards Dallas) that isn't the best - but Denton is a cool little city.

there is lot of rental property in Denton (homes and apts) because of the high % of college students and lower level faculty so some areas can be kind of sketchy--

There are a few subdivisions right on Swisher rd. Start there and all schools over there are excellent . Some fairly new too..... I know a realtor in that area and he lives there also if you need PM me and I'll send you his #

I don't think living around college kids is sketchy - as they are in college. BUT - it can get loud and rowdy. When I went to school there - since I actually wanted to SLEEP at night and have quiet to study - I rented a few miles from the school. There are some great older neighborhoods north of University that are great. Quiet -but not too far from the city.

Corinth is a family friendly area, with trees and hills and great subdivisions. Good home prices too.
