Congratulations Mavs!! They played very well as a team and truly deserved this championship. I'm really glad that Dirk, Kidd, and Marion got a ring too.

Miami Paper Congratulates WRONG NBA Team

The Miami Herald ran an advertisement for Macy's in this morning's edition congratulating the Miami Heat on winning NBA Championship.

Oops!

Thanks for the link, Lakewooder. Article is a bit infuriating. And disingenuous, when you think of James' salary and endorsement deals. We don't hate him because of his race, we hate him because he is an arrogant, over-hyped a-hole.

Does anyone remember the Vogue cover from 2008 that featured James and Giselle Bunchen? It was an intentional "Beauty and the Beast" theme and it was highly artistic. The racial thing popped up then too -- critics of the pic said he was supposedly made to look "ape-like" -- and that he had been duped into posing. (As if someone had to coerce him into posing with Giselle!)

Makes me wonder if it's something his press agent does to promote sympathy??? I'm sure a "polish and repair LeBron" campaign is in the works right now.

He should be on a box of Wheaties at least!
He doesn't do endorsements by choice. He doesn't have an agent, he does all of his contract negotiations himself. I can only remember him doing 1 nike shoe contract according to an article I read, but that's about it.

Dirk Nowitzki has lots of game, but no agent - Game On!: Covering the Latest Sports News

This can give you more info.

poor Dirk=-=
I hope he can at least find a nice girl after this--
last year's messed up hottie was a real embarassement for a guy who is very private person

and the ads congratulating the Heat for its win is like the newspapers with the Dewey headlines when Truman snuck the election away
not that the Mavs "snuck" anything away from the Heat--

Nowitzki explained his decision not to pursue endorsements to Bloomberg by saying, "I always wanted to be a basketball player. Nothing more, nothing less."
Words of a real champion. A hellava lot more than just a basketball player.

TBH, Dirk just doesn't have the huge appeal for endorsements (until now). He was the boring, monotone German to people outside of Dallas. If he was country white boy like Larry Bird, it'd be different.
