The Lake Saucer and Primo's is a great combo. Give em a little waterfront taste of texmex and some excellent craft beer (which they have a better selection of in CA). While that may not "impress" them, it is a good time. Primo's usually has a band on the patio and I once saw an amphibicar pull up there and grab a margarita.

Amazing! You guys are amazing!! So many great suggestions. Whether or not my friends are impressed, I have now a lot of places to visit on my list.

For those who have asked what my friends like, age-group etc, well, they are in 28-29 year old. All of them enjoy going on long drives and exploring new places. Not much into clubbing but give them good food and they will be happy.

From all your suggestions, I am pretty sure that they will go back home impressed.

Well being from the bay area and living now in DFW area, I must say that nothing here will impress them. You can only be the most hospitable you can, and hope and pray for the best. Or as someone else suggested your best bet is San Antonio river walk. But that is that great. This place bites!

The food and the people would. They might like the Stockyards in Fort Worth too. Outside that, probably not.

We have nice things like good shopping, diversity, and nightlife, but lots of cities have that too.

May I suggest you post in our, um, sane person thread and leave the rest of these alone?

I host friends from California all the time who have fun in North Texas for a few days. No one's asking the OP's friends to move here permanently. And, if they're like a lot of visitors from either coast who think there are only just going to be tumbleweeds blowing down the streets, they're going to be impressed with the little things like potable water, electricity, and not everyone wearing overalls.
