Elm Place closed because it very old and it's full of asbestos. It's has not been renovated since it opened in 1965. There's a lot of obsolete buildings in downtown. If my company was located in a old building, I would move too. Dallas has a horrible downtown but a least other parts of the city can make up for it. Of course Fort Worth is going to have a low vacancy rate because Dallas has wayyy more office buildings. I know we're moving in the right direction so Downtown can be come more vibrant. At least the city and the developers are trying. Downtown will not change over night, it will take years.

Again, listen up: Downtown Dallas is very large and has many components. Downtown Fort Worth is very small and has Sundance Square.

The West End hasn't been happening in 20 years. But it's not really a big deal as the action in central Dallas is in Uptown & surrounding neighborhoods that loop around downtown. Uptown is more of a comparable neighborhood to downtown Fort Worth as the nightlife neighborhood that also houses residents, businesses, and the arts. Why not compare those two? Why force downtown Dallas to be something it's not- and then call it a failure? That's just silly.

Tried to rep his, but I have to spread it around first. We have Uptown, Deep Ellum, Oak Lawn, Downtown is predominately a Business District, not a shopping/entertainment district, and that's fine. Lots to do in downtown, but it is what it is.

Downtown Dallas has the potential to be better than DTFW because it's larger and they have more vibrant neighborhoods surrounding it.

Because sadly, people believe a city's most lively, bustling, and vibrant area should be at it's core. This mentality is alive and well in every city as they try to fix their downtowns as well (Los Angeles, Atlanta, even Chicago is still trying to fix up it's downtown, Center City Philadelphia, Baltimore and it's harbor, and even Houston).
