Hi, me and my boyfriend are looking for a hotel for a 12 night stay in Dallas. We want to be in the midst of activity, not too far from restaurants, bars and shopping. Which areas are the best to look in??

Stay somewhere in/near downtown Dallas on the DART rail line. You'll be connected to everything but also central for driving out for the day.

The La Quinta has a great location off Central and Henderson. Henderson is where the action is. If you'd like something nicer - look at the Palomar on Mockingbird off Central.

West End is dead and when not dead - it is touristy.

How big is your budget? Will you be renting a car? Hotel Zaza, a boutique hotel right in the middle of Uptown and within walking distance of lots of bars and restaurants, would be cool but pricey for 12 days. It's also right along the free trolley line that runs up to West Village and down to near the Arts District downtown.

If you want to be downtown, there's the Magnolia

The West End isn't really where things are happening anymore though that would put you close to the JFK Museum and the aquarium, two prime tourist attractions.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback.. 'Truedat' we did look at the hotel zaza and it looked really nice. I guess i'm finding it hard just using the internet because we live in the UK we're pretty much relying on expedia!!
Thanks Pepper131, I'll deifnately look into La Quinta.
We will definately have a car because we're looking at meeting an estate agent and visiting different areas for relocation so we've got a lot planned!! It's pretty exciting but I think it's going to be very different to where we live at the moment!!
