I would suggest that you look in Keller and Trophy club if new construction is really what you want. They both have good builders in your price range. If you are flexible and can go to the mid 450K then Flower Mound would be the only other option within a reasonable commute.

You may want to look at homes built within the last 5-7 years too, you may be surprised at what you can get and that are still very energy efficient. It's all in the upkeep.

Frisco would give you a ton of choices but the commute woult be "hellish".

Coppell's school district is one of the top one around here but there is no new construction under 500K. Also, note that school districts here overlap cities, so you could be living in the city of Irving and your kids attend Coppell school district etc.

As far as tax rates, here are a few:

Coppell: 2.73
Irving with Coppell schools: 2.89
Flower Mound: 2.15
Trophy Club: 2.35
Keller: 2.60
Grapevine in Grap/Colleyville schools: 2.26
Colleyville in Grap/Colleyville schools: 2.25
Frisco: 2.10 in Denton County and 2.14 in Collin county
