The pool scene at Hotel ZaZa is stellar. I haven't been to the W at Victory but I would predict the same. Hit Knox-Henderson (the Henderson side) and Lower Greenville Ave. Also Uptown and Downtown have some great places.

If you are going to be here on a Sunday afternoon, a great thing to do is to eat and/or have margaritas on the patio at Primo's on McKinney. You can also sit outside at many places on Greenville...

Hotel ZaZa and its restaurant/bar for sure. Though the new Ritz Carlton opens in a few days and its Dean Fearing restaurant is going to be a hot hangout for the near future.

I'd skip Primos. Better Mexican food + scene = Mi Cocina or Taco Diner in West Village. For unique and trendy Mexican food = Urban Taco in Mockingbird Station. People watching = Any of the high-end Victory Park restaurants. I'd also recommend more middlebrow hangouts like the Meridian Room in Fair Park.

I'd also recommend the usual tourist stuff: 6th Floor Museum, The Nasher, the DMA, White Rock Lake, watching a classic movie on Tuesday nights on the Victory Park mega-screens, the museums at Fair Park, shopping at NorthPark.

I drove past Primo's last night about 7:45pm and the place was PACKED. The patio was wall to wall people.

No doubt, it's a popular place. Guess it's just a little too young and pick-up-joint-ish for my tastes. And there's better Mexican food in town.

Regarding Primo's... I think of the old joke ... it's so popular that nobody goes there anymore. Personally, I don't like their food.

It depends on what you like -- I go for the tamales, chicken enchiladas and the cheese enchiladas/cheese taco -- the refried beans are pretty good, my test for Tex-Mex. I always have to ask for jalapenos and onions, though.

But you may not care what you are eating after a few drinks and the 'beautiful' people are in full pulchritude and preening...if you think I'm shallow you might be right but it's really quite entertaining when you are not 'on the market'.

And they need to get rid of those tacky TVs at the north end of the patio...
