Are they going mixed-use with this site? I know they mention retail, but it seems like a prime spot to get more residents near the lake.

What I read indicated it's strictly retail. I think mixed-use was considered previously though.

?? Lakewood seems like a nice mix of people and a quiet, aesthetically pleasing oasis within Dallas. My exposure to the area didn't display any attitude at all.

Update: 15-acre retail development planned at Gaston/Garland | Advocate Magazine

"Lincoln Property Co.’s plans for the intersection of Gaston and Garland prove we all should’ve bought there years ago. The real estate company is planning a vast, high-end retail development on the intersection’s three corners"

"Now that most of those properties surrounding Gaston/Garland are in the hands of one developer, it could be a game-changer for the neighborhood"

"The way Whiteside sees it, all this bodes very well for property values in the neighborhood.

If I had enough money, I’d go out and buy every house I could get my hands on right now,” he says

Lincoln Property Starbucks, grocery in the works for Gaston/Garland redevelopment | Advocate Magazine

“We’re kind of long on Lakewood,” Dozier says.

After the company bought the Lakewood shopping center at Gaston and Abrams, where Ace Hardware is, potential tenants came calling in a hurry, he says. So that’s why the company bought more Lakewood properties. The company plans to move certain Lakewood tenants to the Gaston/Garland development, such as the UPS Store, to make way for a potential tenant, the burrito shop Freebirds, Dozier says"
