We were on the Borden's route. Brown half-gallon glass jugs. Manor bread too.

NorthTown Mall had the Hydro Tube water slide too and the 25 cent booth to watch cartoons. The cartoons were Deputy Dog, Felix the Cat and The Mighty Hero's. What I want to know is what happened to the Polar Bear Ice Cream store at Webb Chapel and Forest Lane? They had the best blue coconut ice cream. It was bright blue and icy, smelled like suntan lotion!!! Then there was Pennywhistle Park on Forest Lane at Inwood Road, they gave you wooden nickels for the rides, I think? Crystals Pizza was also in that neighborhood. That is the place we would go to after school on Fridays to play, watch cartoons and eat.

I sure remember the Canterbury Shop at Northpark Mall.
They always had cool clothing...
Remember The Varsity Shop across from SMU?
That was a cool place to shop!

Yes, I remember Booth's toys as a kid. I remember buying colored rabbits feet key chains and things for my model rocket kits. I also love to buy car model kits there. I miss that place. Toys' R Us and Walmart are just not the same.

On the subject of sex, drugs and rock & roll, 1970's and '80s style:

The Texas Electric Ballroom - Rock concert venue near downtown.

The Hot Klub - punk club on Cedar Springs @ Inwood. The floor was so filthy that if you dropped your wallet, you'd seriously consider leaving it there.

Ground Zero - another punk club around Park Lane @ Greenville. Much nicer than the Hot Klub.

Strawberry Fields Head World, also around Park Lane @ Greenville. Next to the Beer Barn drive-through.

The porn movie theater in Snider Plaza (!) of all places.

Yes and for a long time there was the Dr. Pepper bottling Plant and also the Coca-Cola bottling plant on the same street.............. Mockingbird..........One by SMU and the Other by Love Field.

Olla Podrida had some wonderful little stores you could spend hours and hours looking and when you came out you had a real find in what you bought........ One of my favorites was the Phone Booth with the rectangle shaped hamburgers and great Onion Rings, French Fries and Shakes. I gain weight just thinking about all those.

Goff's had the best hamburgers.... I remember SO MANY TIMES Harvey Goff didn't like what someone/anyone looked like and he would either give a smart a*sed remark or start a verbal fight and tell them he wasn't going to serve them if the guys didn't cut their hair. If he didn't like how you looked, there was HELL to Pay...... Still all in all, he passed away a couple of years ago and I couldn't believe in all those years, he was STILL adlibbing remarks to anyone who would listen. But he sold the hell out of those hamburgers, French fries and drinks. with a McDonalds sitting almost next door. He kinda like that I think........

Thanks Harvey for being such a ....... character......... I'm just glad he seemed to like what I was wearing or what I looked like. Even 40 years later.......

He was so scary I would only go there with my dad, who presented himself as an upstanding citizen. That man (Harvey) frightened me so, but the burgers were so good!
