How about cruising Forest Lane? Anybody else do that? As a kid who just got his first car, and later on when I built hotrods and restored classic cars in high school, that was a really fun thing. Ultimately the police put an end to our fun by writing tickets for just about anything.

Oh yes! Mid to Late 80s cruising Forest Lane. By the time I was finished with that around 88, it seemed it was on its last breath. When exactly did it come to an end?

So the mural isn't there anymore? Too bad. I haven't driven down that stretch of Forest in a while. Even when I have I didn't notice if the mural was still there or not. It was in between Midway and Inwood I believe.

I stopped cruising back in the early 80's after high school, so I don't know when it finally died, but the cops were making it REAL tough even then.

AHHHH the mural - I think local high school(s) did that as a project to cover up the graffitti (sp?), and it seemed to have worked. Our family used to go down Forest when I was a kid (on our way to Pancho's), and the mural was there, so I think it might have been before the Bicentennial, but I'm not 100% certain about that, so Lakewooder may be right.

My brother was 5 years older than me and when he and his friends cruised Forest it was a pretty big deal. By the time me and my friends turned 16 in 86 I think Forest was a shell of its former self. At least for the teenagers.

Oh yes, cruised Forest Started in the early 80's till I graduated from hs in 83. We went back a few times just to see what was going on. I think the last time hubby and I drove down it was about 12-13 years ago and it was DEAD! Just to think about all of those times and the goof ball stuff we did all around there. He worked at Kroger but not that one but knew people there back then. LOL!!! We could actually hang out in the Burger King parking lot. And the dude w/ the cross he carried up and down the road. geez....

Mural, painted by a group of high school students. Each one had a part on the wall to paint so some of it did not always "go together". It was cool. It was between Midway and Marsh on the North side.

Ah, Pancho's and the El Fenix Cafeteria. Of course there was Lusky's. Remember the two girls who disappeared and their car was found in that parking lot. They worked at the Steak n Ale in Addison and had left there and went to Forest Ln and that is where their car was found. My sis went to school w/ them. They never did find them and never have.

Hey there was also a Wyatt's Cafeteria on Forest...

I am laughing because I can just imagine mom in a muscle car so well!

That dude with the cross went all over the place - he also hit nightclubs - I used to give him grief, saying "well, Jesus didn't have a little wheel on the bottom of His cross!"
