Hello all,

I will be in town the weekend of October 11-14th for the redskins cowboys game-

I was going to stay in the general area of cowboys staidum, however I had some questions:

I see hotels from $45.00 a night to $400.00 a night, outside of the obvious, why the big disparity?
Are there any areas/hotels that I should stay away from?
How is safety on game nights/days walking to and from the stadium?
We wanted to go play paintball about an hour away, how are the roads/traffic?
Any classy strip clubs/night clubs within the area where I am not taking my life at risk?
In the area surrounding teh stadium, are there good places to eat other than Mcdonalds, BK, wendys, etc?
Will I need a vehicle to enjoy the city, or will walking work?

Thanks!

YES, you will need a vehicle. Public transit here in DFW is not very good. There are many cities that do not have it at all, and Arlington is one of them.

Yes, hotels range from the Motel 6 ($45 a night) to the Four Seasons ($450 a night). I personally would recommend staying in downtown Fort Worth. Hotels down there are an Omni, Renaissance, Hilton, Courtyard, The Ashton, and an Embassy Suites. It's an easy drive to Cowboys Stadium, and the downtown as itself is very walkable and has lots of good restaurants and bars. The AFC team stayed at the Renaissance for the Super Bowl, and ESPN had a big broadcast area in Sundance Square.

Sorry, but I can't recommend any strip clubs...

haha thanks!

Is the downtown area overall pretty safe? Are there a lot of sports bar's in the general area?

So pretty much anything in walking distance of the stadium that is priced "too good to be true" is more than likely a hole in the wall? What is the worst thing I guess to stay away from in the area? During that time of the year (NFL Season) does Arlington really wake up?

Sundance Square is Fort Worth's primary downtown attraction...

Sundance Square - Located in the Heart of Downtown Fort Worth

There's also the stockyards...

The general area around the Cowboy stadium(Arlington) is pretty lame, and not very nice. You get what you pay for on hotels. I strongly recommend going to hotwire.com and getting the cheapest 4-star you can find. Probably $70-100 a night. It won't give you the name of the hotel but areas with good hotels and lots of nightlife will be in DT Dallas, Uptown, and the Market center area. Concentrate on those.

Arlington or any far northern burb

Pretty good it's surrounded by acres of parking lots, apartments, and a walmart.

Your coming on the weekend, so the traffic should be decent

I'm not sure that classy and strip club go together, but The nicest I've been to was the lodge. It's in an industrial area off stemmons and northwest highway. The clubhouse is nearby. Your life won't be at risk, just your wallet.

A lot of the nice/trendy clubs will have female go go dancers.

No, Arlington is almost all chains. You will need a vehicle.

Yes, downtown is quite safe. No, most of the bars downtown are more like pubs than sports bars.

The area of Arlington surrounding the stadium is just ok, but not great. The stadium, which was just built a few years ago, was carved out of a mostly lower-class, residential area. Most of the surrounding businesses are remnants of what was there before. It's still a few years away before we get total redevelopment down there...

I can recommend Olenjack's Grille on the Road to Six Flags, and the Prince Lebanese (featured on DDD).
