me and my sister are planing on moving to dallas (or around dallas) and were wondering where the best place would be. we are after a 2 bedroom place, spending upto $1500/mth. we are both in our early 20s and would like somewhere where we could meet other young people.
what would be better.. the dallas area (and where?) or arlington, or ft worth?
suggestions of apartment complexes would be appreciated.

Where are your jobs going to be located? The Metroplex is huge.

I would go to the Dallas forum for this question. But look in the Dallas neighborhood of Uptown to be around other 20 somethings. You could get an apartment in that price range. Other Dallas neighborhoods would be Knox-Henderson or The Village.

Definitely don't waste time with Arlington. (Unless you already have a few kids, ex-husbands, boyfriends and want to live in a run down old apartment). You could probably find some places in Fort Worth. But Dallas has the largest concentration of young people living in the city.

Uptown Dallas Generally:

Another option is The Village. It is in northeast Dallas and has a lot of different apartments to choose from. It's got great walking trails, a ton of social activities, a nice big gym, a huge pool, tennis courts, football and rugby fields, jogging trails under big oak trees. The downside is that you'd have to drive about 10 minutes to places like Uptown. But there are a few places to walk to from the Village as well. They'll be a little cheaper than Uptown, but most people who live there are right out of college. So you'd meet people your age.

I was going to offer the standard "Uptown" response, but the OP didn't specify where she'll be working. If she works at Alliance or in DT FW, Uptown wouldn't be a wise choice.

I agree with k_s. It isn't the distances involved, it's the traffic. There is a 20-mile-long parking lot on TX 121 westbound in the Hurst-Euless-Bedford area every day in evening rush hour. I assume it is the same in the opposite direction in the morning. I don't see how people stand it everyday.
