You'll go from having an AFC team break your heart to an NFC team breaking your heart.

That being said, as an ex San Diegan for 30+ years (although I moved back in 98 to the east coast), I'd move back to SD in a heartbeat if the state wasn't going down the tubes.

Better economic opportunities out here going forward (probably).
Real estate will be cheaper compared to CA (although property taxes will be higher, they're also more realistic than CA, so the budget isn't in nearly as bad a shape as CA).

Water? Well, there are some lakes here, but if you're really a water person, you better have a pool, or you're better off moving farther south towards the gulf. Definitely no comparison with Southern California....

85? Doable on the freeways here, but if it should be closer to flow of traffic, otherwise you may get pulled over. Don't speed excessively on city streets, especially in the northern suburbs. Lots of local police parked out watching for speeders, since many of the limits out there are higher than typical city streets in CA. Also, watch out for the center lane bandits. Speed limits may be higher on the freeways out here, but for some reason, I've seen a lot of people that hang out in the center lane doing about 10mph below the speed limit. They screw up traffic worse than the left lane bandits do...

Guns? Yes, you're probably more welcome here than in CA (now, and definitely in the future), but use them safely and wisely (meaning no loaded guns inside the car as your speeding along on the local roads; police tend to frown on that, and will probably go all Walker, TX Ranger on your ass if they catch you).

And definitely mellow out. Many people think of LA personalities as being stereotypical Californians. San Diegans are more laid back, and that type of attitude will go much farther here in TX.

Go Chargers!
