I know it is - it's a big town. Pockets was a poor word choice by me.

I often wonder how the teachers and policemen of Highland Park feel about working for a city/school district they can't possibly afford to be a part of.

Well, I'm sure that's how the "old money" people think about the situation - they should be grateful for the opportunity to serve the nobility.

Mostly, I'm just stirring the pot here. But there is a point hidden.

The point is, the fact that Plano has apartments and some areas of cheap houses is a feature, not a defect. It's possible for anyone from the corporate executive to the Kwik-E-Mart employee to work AND live in Plano. That's a rare situation in the suburbs. HP, for example, has chosen to be a residential area for rich people. That's fine, but then it has to look outside of its own community for people to service the community, and it has to look outside the community for the associated high-paying jobs of HP residents. If Dallas proper doesn't do its part to maintain itself as a corporate magnet, there's not much HP can do about that.

Serve the nobility? Really? Sorry but that's a bit over the top. Whether it's HP, Dallas, Lewisville, Flower Mound, Frisco, Plano, etc I think most people would be happy (especially teachers given the education funding cuts) to have a job. That's certainly not unique to HP employees.

Big G, I have a quick question for you.

Do you know the attendance zone for the low-income housing that was built at Hillcrest and the Bush Tollway and if that has affected the rating of the schools?

Jackson/Frankford/Shepton/PWSH.

Frankford and Shepton are Acceptable, Jackson & PWSH are Recognized. Make of that what you will.

Being honest, that project was one of several factors that led me to transfer my kid away from Frankford. (A bigger factor is that Frankford is served by the Dallas PD, which takes much less interest in steering future delinquents onto a better path.)
