I had directv for a year and the snow did pile up on it and the weather affected reception. Even though with UVerse, I had to go on their forums and download 3rd party diagnostic software and learn to interpret it, every 2 out of 5 times, I got a nice, helpful, competent tech support agent (in the US). Every other call was routed to India at which point I would hang up. Because of the cultural differences, language barriers and the fact that they repeated everything I said and never really got to the point and couldn't really help. The actual service techs who came to my house were friendly and nice but the guy who spent 6 hours here was super cool and exactly what the company needs more of.

I really hate u-verse, it's so overpriced for what it is, the internet isn't that fast, you have to pay an extra 7 bucks for every room that you want to watch u-verse in, their tech support (outsourced to India, of course) sucks, AT&T is notorious for screwing up billing (it was a nightmare when I moved) and demanding that you return equipment that you don't have and never did, etc.

I know a couple of people with TWC and they're very happy with it but most people I know have u-verse (and are tepid about it), satellite (they either love or hate it), or Fios (they love it but complain about the cost). Fios isn't an option obviously because Fios and u-verse don't co-exist.

have you considered Internet TV==like Apple TV
I don't really know any of the particulars but know that some people who are into Apple products and tech savy say that is wave of the future

I don't really own Apple products and don't want the cost ramp-up associated with them.

I guess I'll just have to call TWC and see what they can do.

If you're interested at all in Internet TV, Roku is probably the best piece of hardware out there. IMHO, it's not up to par with cable or satellite but it suits our needs and compared to when we first ditched satellite (over 7 years ago) there's a lot of content available.

That's actually tempting because I don't actually watch much broadcast television as it's happening....and even if I do it's almost always stuff on the main networks and I can pick those up with a digital receiver...heck I could get a Roku and a digital receiver and a Hulu Plus subscription for only a little more than what I pay for one month of sucky ripoff u-verse. Obviously I'll still need an internet provider though. Who's got good DSL service?
