My husband will be working in Dallas but we are looking north of Dallas to rent for the first year. I have a 14 and 10 year old so schools are very important. I have heard Fairview is where we need to look because of Lovejoy High School and a new elementary school. Are there apartments to rent in that area? Our price range will be around $1800.00 a month. I plan on flying out there in the next few weeks but don't really even know which towns to look at so any recommendations would be appreciated!

If he'll be working in Dallas proper, that would be a long commute. There are some good school districts closer to the city (I'll defer to some of the more seasoned posters to give specifics).

Fairview? Where is that? That isn't in or near Dallas?

My recommendations in great school districts and some houses listed for rent in those areas to give you a map fix. Pay attention to school district; some houses are in onee town but are zoned to a different district.

I don't believe there are any apartments that feed into Lovejoy ISD. The towns of Lucas and Fairview that make up Lovejoy are very geared toward 1/2+ acre lots with new house building starting in the 400's. I wouldn't recommend this area for a commute to downtown Dallas, but it might be doable for a North Dallas job location.

There are definitely other great school districts further south with a better commute to downtown Dallas.

I would try Coppell or maybe Addison/Las Colinas because of the commute time

Where, roughly, in Dallas will your hubby work?

If he will work anywhere near downtown there is zero chance I'd consider Fairview.

Fairview is just south of McKinney, east of US75, where Hwy 5 branches off 75.

His office will be near Central Expressway. We live in town with around 68,000 people but my kids attend a county school that is K-12th grade with only 1,000 students in all. Just from my research online I have been considering the Allen or McKinney area but don't know how the commute will be for him.

Where on Central? That highway is about 80+ miles long.
