Hi All-

My wife and I found a pretty nice rental house in Plano. It's in Village at Legacy. The area concerns us though. We're all for diversity, but would I be a minority in this 'hood?

We're in our 30's, white w/ a newborn.

Thanks for all input!

Minority? Close to it, but probably not in the manner you're thinking of. The ethnic breakdown for the associated elementary school (Hedgcoxe) is:

White: 59%
Asian: 21%
Hispanic: 12%
Black: 7%

Economically Disadvantaged: 13%

That neighborhood was the subject of a thread on here a while back.

Ghetto looking homes in Plano, off Legacy

I used to work with someone who lived in that area - a 30s white guy with white wife and little kids - and he said it was a mostly Asian area. He was not a fan. They moved to Frisco.

I know this is may be a stupid question, but how could anywhere in Plano of all places be considered a "bad" area? Sure Plano East may be the older side of town, but its not like its murder central over there.

There have been some issues just to the east of there, because they built some low income apartments west of Alma. I think they may be section 8? The Dallas Morning News police blotter reported some petty crime, and one murder in that area a few years ago. I lived near there when this all came up many years ago and the locals went bat s*it, but there have not been too many issues that I recall. I used to drive down Legacy in that area several times a week a few years ago, and didn't notice anything bad. The apartments looked like they kept them up. I'd see an occasional "banger" walking along Legacy, but that doesn't mean he was bad. On the other hand, I wouldn't walk up to him and say hello. Ya know?
