I have been living in Dallas for 3 months. My husband (a sleeler fan) and I went to a local sports bar that boasted to show all the NFL preseason games to watch the steelers @ the redskins. We sat at our table with a big screen set up for our game, ordered some food, our favorite beverage. The time is getting closer to kick off,we finished the food and we are working on beverage#2, Its 7:00, kickoff...our big screen went blank. My husband and I look at each other thinking WHAT? The servers were scrambling all around trying to figure out what/why this is happening.Fifteen minutes later the manager came to our table, with an embarassed tone said I guess we didn't read the fine print, ourNFL pkg only covers regular season NFL games. Its going to be a long season. to be continued.......

The Redskin/Cowboy rivalry is no longer what it was when I was a kid in the 70s/80s.

Well you're both going to be wearing enemy colors in Cowboys territory but I don't think you will have any problems other than some minor friendly harrassment from Cowboys fans. I personally don't ever mess with anyone just because they are a fan of a particular team... I respect that they like whatever team and although most people are just looking for a friendly rivalry it makes me mad when someone says something stupid to me just because I'm wearing a Cowboys shirt or something.

Oh csing, I would have loved to have you with me yesterday. I was driving home on Nimitz Highway by Honolulu Harbour and a guy pulls up next to me giving me the stink eye.

I can't figure cause I haven't done anything to the bruddah. THEN I notice two flying redskin flags, redskin stickers all over his car, and red and yellow fuzzy dice hanging from the rearview.

He took exception to my Cowboy Star and my chrome Texas plaque on my back tailgate.........

I rolled down my window and said, "Hey brah, you like cowboys or what"!?
He was not amused. The rivalry lives on, even in Hawaii.

A quick question...
I'm a USC alum and my uncle is head coach of the Redskins. Will I be shot for flying the team flags when I move there?

You'll be fine..there are so many different NFL and college flags flown in my neighborhood on game days that it's almost commonplace due to all the folks from out of state that have moved to the area.

Part of imo, what makes this rivalry so freaking unique and one of the best in American sports. I don't know of any rivalry that has fans of their most hated team living in the same city as them in such huge numbers in football. There is a growing Redskin fanbase in Dallas and there is a HUGE Cowboy fanbase in the DC area. But wow....you're a skins fan and you're husband a steelers fan. Two fanbases that couldn't hate the Dallas Cowboys more because of such history with those two franchises.
