Farmers Branch and Lewisville no way with your criteria and profile. The best option would be uptown since you want to avoid the drive Addison Circle in Addison would be a good 2nd option.

I second the post about living at The Shops at Legacy area. I know a single man who rents a beautiful apartment there. He walks out to dinner with friends most evenings. He says the locals are tight knit and friendly. It's a cool community and it seems safe and clean. My husband and I go up there for Mi Cocina and great independent films at the Angelika. I think Addison Circle seems neat as well. My husband and I always joke we found the Legacy area too late in life. We would have lived there, hands down, before we had children. Have fun exploring!

Addison or Las Colinas. The shops at Legacy wouldn't be bad either, but it isn't too close to Dallas.

Austin Ranch might be worth a look.

Austin Ranch: Master Planned Community, Apartments, Luxury Homes, Retail, Corporate Campuses

1. Denton County = real liquor stores
2. Easy cruise to most of Lewisville
3. Two minutes east and you're on the Tollway headed south to downtown
4. Less than 5 minutes from the Shops at Legacy
5. Just a few minutes from Lake Lewisville
6. It's actually hilly

It might fit the bill.

Honestly I'd rather have a better commute to work than to live close to where I 'play' on weekends, since you go to work 5 days a week but only 'play' 2 days a week. Just something to consider.

Austin Ranch might be fine for renters, but I think investment in the development seems to be going down as there is only one builder left.

Thanks, that was one of Plano places I was thinking of which would be a good fit for the OP.

That's the other place I was thinking of! Guess it's not in Plano. Thanks.
