We all know Dallas/Fort Worth is very attractive for medium-to-large businesses, but you find a buzzing entrepreneurial spirit in the metroplex? Do you see a lot of start-ups? Is the support system for entrepreneurs stronger or on par with other places?

I think Austin has more a entrepreneurial spirit than Dallas does. Though I haven't really done any digging. Being an entrepreneur myself I just feel that Dallas doesn't have a large start up circle. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Most of world's most interesting and lucrative oil&gas-related start-ups originate in DFW or Hou

Most of world's most interesting and lucrative tech start-ups originate in PaloAlto region

Most of world's most interesting and lucrative hedge fund start-ups originate in MidtownManhattan or SF or BH or Hou or Dall or Chic or Lond

Not a lot of value has originated from Aus or elsewhere in non-DFW/Hou TX over past 25yrs

Depends upon industry but DFW and Hou are at top of any ranking of desirable business climate/ethos/culture esp for anything o&g related, whether e&p, unconvtl stuff, pipelines, hedge funds, etc

World's three most lucrative and innovative industries are arguably tech, hedge funds and o&g...
