You could try Las Colinas.....or Valley Ranch.

Even a small Main Street with a local bar and a couple of restaurants would be nice.
There is one...it's on the east side on 35 along 1171. It still isn't what you are looking for, though.

Yes. None of Dallas is very dense. Even Uptown has some suburban aspects to it. The farther out you go, the worse it gets. Addison is a decent halfway point, but it is mainly apartments next to a big highway rented by divorcees that think the Olive Garden is chic. I think your girlfriend is going to miss Uptown.

You might look at the Shops at Legacy/Legacy Town Center located at Legacy and Dallas North Tollway in north Plano just south of 121 and then you would get to Denton going north on the Dallas North Tollway and then west on 380.

The Shops at Legacy

It's a bit sterile compared to Uptown, no doubt, but it is a multi-use development.

Have you thought about riding the DCTA line to and from work?

Is it worth 1.5 additional hours in the car each day to live somewhere that's "hip", or could you just go party on the weekends?

These times are absolutely false. Going from Addison to Denton, even in rush hour, is fairly easy. Everyone is going north to south, and you would be going south to north. Both the Tollway and 35 are relatively clear in the mornings going north.

Denton has TWU.

Texas Woman's University - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Young women outnumber similarly aged men significantly in Denton. And many of the latter are indigenous and thus do not appeal to the college bound young woman.

If I was young and hip and edumacated I'd live in Denton if I worked there.

just saying.
