Speaking of restaurants worth the drive in the general vicinity of Whiskey Cake, I recommend Lavendou on Preston south of PGBT(it's actually 5 miles closer to Dallas), especially if you like country French. The souffle is as good as you get at Rise, although they only make 3 kinds and just for dessert after dinner.

I live nearby and eat out every evening. It's okay, but nothing special. The whiskey cake desert isn't anything special either. I would not say it's worth a lengthy drive...unless you just want to give it a try and see for yourself.
