When I lived in McKinney, El Dorado Estates was the High Dollar Area.

Lately, some high dollar homes are being built in Van Alstyne. North of McKinney
by another 10 miles.

Frisco is to Plano as Plano was to Richardson 20-30 years ago. Just another layer of Suburbia growing its way north towards McKinney. Then within the next 20-30 years the growth pattern will be onwards to Sherman.

IMO, living in the metro. You don't want a long commute between work and home due to traffic, weather or other
emergency situations.

I said in the Flower Mound thread you should just live in McKinney...after reading this thread and getting more info on your budget and school preferences, I would advise you to look in McKinney but SERIOUSLY consider West Plano. It meets your school qualifications and would fit your budget best.

The only problem with West Plano is I'm swaying towards buying new or going custom. I thought West Plano was built out?
