Hi everyone,

I will be moving to Dallas in a few months. I am a 30 yo, professional male. Will be commuting to Arlington for work and would like to live in Uptown. Was wondering if anyone could help me out. I have searched and read through all the old "uptown" posts.

Aside from yelp and some very few rating sites here and there, has any one heard of anything about Gables Park 17? Pretty new, sorta expensive too.

I want to move to Uptown/surround areas, want walkability, but nothing RIGHT ON McKinney Ave. I want to stay away from the noise, but dont mind just walking a block to where the action's at. West Village a possibility? or is that a little too far. I have heard/read that State/Thomas was alright. I wouldn't want my rent to exceed $1600ish

Could someone give me some advice and insight?

Thank you much!

Stay away from Lemmon. Airplanes fly above it all the time. You wont be able to sleep.

I've toured Gables Park 17 and think their units are small and finish outs are so so for the $$.

We've got a place in the State & Thomas area and get planes all the time. We're also a block behind McKinney which is very walk able but does tend to get active on weekends. Now the commute to Arlington could proven to be a PITA from Uptown. Morning in Uptown are pretty easy going from say 6am-9am but the main hwys like Woodall (366) and I-30 can be a PITA. I had to spend some time in FT Worth a couple days driving back and forth. I'm used to Uptown being semi Easy but that all changed once I turned off Pearl to Woodall. It was bumper to bumper for miles..,all while Uptown was quite as a mouse.

Now if I was a straight single guy with a pulse, it would be worth battling the traffic to Arlington while living in Uptown

I've toured the place. It has the nicest amenities I've seen out of any building in uptown. Super fancy, although a bit pricey.

I live right on the edge of State Thomas and it's a very nice area, just a couple blocks from McKinney and very quiet. I'm in Post Uptown Village, very reasonable prices and I've been here a year and have never had any issues. We just resigned our lease for another year.
