I think 65 is the cut off for the majority of Counties/cities. Check your local County tax sheet online.

At 65, you can file the "Over 65 Exemption" on your property.

depends on what the voters in that area have gone for
and depends on if you get only the city discount or can pull additional discount from the ISD tax rate--
I don' think other tax entities like the hospital tax gives discount for seniors

Here is the tax exemptions list for the Dallas County Appraisal District: DCAD - Exemptions

Check here for all the other counties/cities exemptions in the area: Local Govt Resources - Appraisal Districts/City/County/State/Federal

Disabled Veterans get 5,000 to 15,000 off assessments across the board and if you are 100% Disabled Veteran you have a total exemption. If a husband or wife is disabled they can have the same exemption that seniors have. Many miss this that are entitled to it.

All homeowners can get a homeowners exemption but have to apply for all exemptions
