I'm fairly new to the area and still learning about signing up for electric. Last fall I signed up for the Basic 6 plan from reliant for ~7.3 cents/Kwh. When I log into my account they give me the option to choose a new one either a 1 yr fixed at 10.5 cents or a month to month at 9.2 cents.

Can I not sign up for another Basic 6 (which is currently 8.2 cents)? I've heard I can switch companies back and forth which I wouldn't mind other than I don't want a hard inquiry 2-3X a year to my credit.

So what's my options - 1)pay the higher rate, 2) call Reliant with the current offer code for the 6 month basic from the Power to Choose site or 3) company hop?

Thanks!

yes--those are your options

you might go online and check out other companies' offerings
if you find co with GOOD reviews for customer service and good rate
then call and see if Reliant will match it just to avoid hassle of moving deposit and stuff
and if they won't be prepared to switch if that .02 is worth that much to you

I've used powertochoose.com (or is it org)

they give you all the options of different companies, length of contracts, per KWH
