We are moving back to the Collin county area and are thinking of moving to melissa this time. Last time we lived in Stonebridge ranch and loved it. This time we have looked in Melissa and can get so much more for the money that we are seriuosly considering it. My concern is how far it seems from "town" and what the future holds for it. Commuting for work is not an issue since I get transferred often and will always be driving. We also have a 3 and 4 year old so any info for the kids would be greatly appreciated.

Any feedback good or bad is welcomed

We looked pretty hard at Melissa.

City seemed ok. School was responsive to questions. The new neighborhood that is built up around the elementary is pretty much custom tailored for you may be looking for.

Allow in your budget for gas to go up to $5 or $6 per gallon and that will likely protect you. Expect the property (if you buy instead of rent) to at best hold flat or decline more, and that can protect on that downside.

We lived in Anna for a year. Two problems with Melissa area. Lot's of road construction for the next several years with the new outer loop just north, and 75 widening. HUGE landfill on 121 east of 75 resulting in a bucket load of big trucks and smell. Depending on the wind direction we could smell the landfill all the way to near 455 in Anna.

From what I've heard the schools are great.

You have to go to McKinney for just about everything for day to day living. With the 75 construction at 380, which has been going on for about 40 years, coupled with the work from Sam Rayburn to 380, then northward to 121, which may take another 40 years to finish, it'll be hell for a long time.
