What is the weather like here? Is it always really hot? And is the cost of living affordable? Can someone live pretty well on a yearly salary of 42-50,000 a year?

It is very hot from May through September- highs in the 90's and 100's. From July through August, it usually doesn't cool down below 80 overnight.

Is the COL affordable? Dunno, depends on where you're moving from and what standard of living you expect. You're going to have to give us more info about your expectations.

Okay, say you find a job there with a yearly salary of 42,000...where would you stay? would the area be nice?

We moved here from Greenwich,Ct and I would say our money is worth double living in Collin county. $60,000 a year here is equal to at least $100,000 a year in Ct....

It depends. Who am I supporting on $42k? Just me? Myself and a spouse/partner? Myself, a spouse, and 1/2/3/5/9 kids? Do we need public schoools?

Where is my job? How far do I want to commute and how? (walk, bike, car, train, bus, etc).

Do I have significant debt (Student loans, credit cards, medical bills, etc) that will eat into the money I have to live on each month.

We need more info.

$42K household income is about average for the DFW area - BUT we also have about 25% of households below the poverty line- so I wouldn't consider "average" income to be providing any great standard of living for someone supporting more than a spouse. With kids, it's tough. With a spouse or as a single, it just depends on your other expenses/ debts.
